junior golf

We are delighted to be able to announce that Croham Hurst is launching some exciting new initiatives to encourage Junior golf within our club. We have a long history of producing some fantastic Junior talent at Croham Hurst however in recent years this has reduced in numbers, and we are very keen to re-energise our Junior Section as we head into Spring and Summer

If you think you know an aspiring young golfer who would be interested in learning and developing their skills, we have launched two new programmes. Although we would love to have family members from our existing Membership joining as Juniors, that is not a requirement and the schemes are open to all.

Junior Taster Sessions with our Club Professional, Adam Aram which are complimentary to any child of 5-18 to try out golf, including putting and time on our practice range having a go at hitting some balls. Equipment is provided as part of these sessions. Please contact the Pro Shop directly to book a session with Adam. The upcoming Spring Half Term might be the perfect time to let your budding young sports stars try their hands at something new!!

Following a Taster Session, young players who want to develop their golf further can then join our Junior Academy which will include 10 teaching sessions on our practice facilities, including instruction in general play, course etiquette and the rules of golf - plus a club card for discounted food, drinks and snacks.

Academy Juniors who are assessed by our Pro, Adam, as being ready to join fully as Junior Members can then move across, gaining a Handicap Certificate and being able to book their own playing times and participate in many club competitions. Full details of our Junior Membership package will be circulated over the coming weeks.

In order to help manage these initiatives we have formed a new Junior Section Working Group headed by Steve Stiller and represented by members of both our Men's and Ladies Committees that will meet regularly to review progress and incorporate feedback on what we hope will be a thriving and successful section of our club.

It is our intention also to appoint a Junior Organiser (or possibly more than one, as a shared role) and again, details of this will follow over the next few weeks but if you feel it may be of interest to you or another member please get in touch with the office. We will certainly also be happy to hear from anyone who might be able to volunteer to help with our Juniors, even on an ad-hoc basis.

We hope you will join us in supporting this important aspect of our club. Enjoying Junior Golf, as well as possibly unearthing our Stars of the Future, teaches fantastic life skills and is a healthy and fun pastime in great surroundings.
